the red shoes rock story
Red shoes became a way to stand out, be noticed and start conversations about FASD. Today, they are a global symbol of awareness and support.
Where it began
Red Shoes Rock began in 2013 with RJ Formanek, a Canadian man living with FASD. RJ wore red shoes to stand out, be noticed and start conversations about his invisible disability.
Since then, Red Shoes Rock has grown into a global awareness campaign for FASD, giving people a visible way to show support and invite conversation.
Red Shoes Rock in Australia
In Australia, Red Shoes Rock has become a symbol of awareness, advocacy and visibility for people living with FASD and their families.
Each September, people wear red shoes or socks, share stories, light landmarks red and use campaign resources to help communities understand FASD and support alcohol-free pregnancies.
